Ok, not so cute metaphor but it works! In Japan the LEAF order bank has been open since April first and so far its well above expectations. From the Press Release:
YOKOHAMA, Japan (April 22, 2010) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., today announced that the pre-orders of Nissan LEAF reached 3,754 units in three weeks after launching the pre-order process in Japan on April 1. This exceeds half of its sales target for FY2010, which is 6,000 units, thanks to the highly positive feedback from customers for its "remarkable  environmental performance of zero-emission," "affordable pricing for an EV" and its "advanced IT system."

Details are still a bit sketchy other than it will be sitting on an all new platform and there will be world of goodies within! The teaser shot was released with this short 'official' snippet: "“The new Quest, which will be available in early 2011, is the perfect vehicle for buyers needing the size, safety, functionality and comfort that a minivan has to offer, without sacrificing style or driving pleasure,” Looking good so far I say; looking good...

Over the weekend there was some serious running goin on down in the Yellow Rose state and the folks from Boost Logic took themselves home a record in the standing mile for their efforts! From the GT-R Forum: Boost Logic have built one mean Nissan GT-R here. To prove it they ran it in the Texas Mile over the weekend and cracked the 200 mph mark in the standing mile without breaking a sweat. This makes them the first tuner to do so and etches their names in history. The GT-R in question mas clocked at 203.6mph (327.6km/h) at the mile mark and made 823rwhp @ 25psi on their 2WD dyno. They feel that this is just the beginning and with more work the car has even more in it down the straight. I especially like the 'without breaking a sweat' part! See a video over at the forum here.

The NTEA Truck show is the largest Commercial Vehicle show and convention in North America, so big that they lined up William Shatner as the key note speaker! Yes, THE William Shatner! Thats a big deal, and another big deal is the debut of the segment revolutionizing new NV2500 series from Nissan. From the official press release:
As Nissan finalizes plans to bring its first production commercial vehicle (CV) to the North American market in late 2010, it is starting with a truly ground up design – from its rugged ladder frame to the roof rack mounting brackets on the top of the innovatively conceived and styled body. Yet the all-new Nissan NV (Nissan Van) also has the advantage of Nissan’s exceptional commercial vehicle heritage, covering 75 years and more than 75 percent of the global CV market. “The new kid on the block, as it turns out, is also a long-time player in the global commercial vehicle market. As the first non-domestic nameplate to design, manufacture and sell CVs in the United States, we bring a more than seven-decade tradition of durability, quality and reliability to our products,” said Joe Castelli, vice president, Commercial Vehicles and Fleet, Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA). “At the same time, we’ve taken a fresh look at every aspect of the CV business – including styling, powertrain, interiors, cost of operation and ownership, dealership sales and service operations and, most importantly, real world customer needs.”

The 2011 Nissan Micra hasn't even been released yet but the early reviews are very good already! Summed up nicely by my friend Woody with a nice overview, and by friend I mean a guy who's site I follow pretty religiously...;) Here's what Woody had to say, ”what an inexpensive car should be: nicely designed, reliable and full of value. The world needs a car like this since the economy is shot and not everyone wants to take a loan out for a tank of gas.” See more pics here.
