YOKOHAMA (Feb. 8, 2010) - Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today announced that its eco-drive support system, Eco-mode function and Navigation-linked speed control, employed in Nissan's compact vehicles has won the ANRE (Agency for Natural Resources and Energy) Director-General's award in the 20th annual Energy Conservation Prize. Yeah, that’s the NAVI system that’s will slow the vehicle down if you are approaching a curve too fast and has the Smooth Acceleration Assist that will use computer calculations to speed up your car at the most ‘fuel efficient rate’. I haven’t driven one yet so I will save my cautious anticipations of self driven vehicles until its more widely released here in the States, but it is cool that Nissan is already winning awards with the technology! A pack of 2010 small pick ups were crashed up recently by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and take a guess at which truck came out of the smashup with the highest ratings? Well, this is a Nissan site so theres no way  for a cliffhanger there! The Nissan Frontier was given the highest overall safety ratings and in addition to having really good front, side and rollover ratings the Frontiers roof strength is the highest measured! With the recent attention to vehicle safety its awesome to see our trucks again leading the way in passenger protection. See the rest of the field here.
